Your data, handled with care
This policy explains what Lucen collects, why, and the control you keep over it. The short version: your prompts are yours, we collect the minimum we need to run the service, and we never sell your data.
Overview
Lucen Labs (“Lucen,” “we,” “us”) provides a workspace for prompt engineering. This policy covers the personal information we handle when you use Lucen and the choices you have. It applies alongside our Usage Policy.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to provide and improve Lucen:
Information you give us
- Account details: name, email, and authentication credentials.
- Workspace content: the prompts, Blocks, and Library items you create and organize.
- Billing information: handled by our payment processor; we store only a token and the last four digits of a card.
- Support & feedback: messages, bug reports, and feature requests you send us.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage data: features used, forge counts, and interaction events that help us improve the product.
- Device & log data: browser type, IP address, and timestamps, used for security and diagnostics.
How we use it
We use the information above to:
- Operate core features: saving prompts, syncing your Library, running forges, and enabling sharing.
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Process payments and manage your subscription.
- Provide support and respond to your feedback.
- Understand aggregate usage so we can improve performance and design.
- Meet legal obligations and enforce our Usage Policy.
We rely on a mix of legal bases depending on your region: performing our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in running the service, and compliance with law.
Your prompts & content
The prompts and Blocks you create are the heart of Lucen, and we treat them as confidential to you.
- We access your content only to operate features you use, to provide support you request, or where required by law.
- We do not use your private prompt content to train foundation models.
- Content you choose to share via a public link becomes accessible to anyone who has that link, by your action.
- You can export or delete your prompts at any time from your workspace.
Model providers & subprocessors
When you run a forge, your prompt is sent to the model provider you select so it can generate a response. Those providers process the prompt under their own terms, acting as our subprocessors for that request.
A current list of subprocessors is available on request at contact@trylucen.io.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and only as long as we need it after that:
- Workspace content remains until you delete it or close your account.
- Deleted items are removed from active systems promptly and purged from backups on a rolling cycle.
- Logs & diagnostics are retained for a limited period for security and reliability, then discarded.
- Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Cookies & local storage
Lucen uses a small set of cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (like sidebar state and your active prompt), and understand aggregate usage. We don’t use advertising cookies or third-party trackers for targeting.
You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential ones may affect how Lucen works. Regional choices, where applicable, are surfaced under “Your privacy choices” in the account menu.
Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that’s inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where we rely on it.
You can exercise most of these directly in settings, or by writing to contact@trylucen.io. We’ll respond within the timeframe your local law requires, and we won’t charge you for a reasonable request.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest, scoped access controls, continuous monitoring, and regular review of our practices. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe, and if a breach ever affects your data, we’ll notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
International transfers
Lucen operates globally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. When we transfer personal data across borders, we use safeguards recognized under applicable law (such as standard contractual clauses) to ensure it stays protected.
Children’s privacy
Lucen isn’t directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region), and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll remove it.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy as Lucen and the law evolve. When changes are material, we’ll revise the date above and notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
